Hector’s progress has been amazing! His flying skills improved immensely. Last night we set up a hunting pit for him. I no time at all he bagged himself 2 mice. Hector is ready to go ❤️! Stay tuned for his release pics and videos.
Last night animal control brought these little guys to Vida. There mama was hit by a car and didn’t survive. They were in the midst of hatching when they arrived. 1 baby hatched before arriving, baby 2 appeared to have hatched while enroite to Vida and Baby 3 hatched overnight, the other 2 are taking their time.
This accident happened at a local park. Please remember parks are not speed cut throughs to avoid traffic, take your time, drive slow and enjoy the scenery. You never know what you might see!
Vida wildlife is getting closer to actually having a facility! If anyone would like to donate please click the donation button. Our most recent need came up last night, an incubator for baby ducks and eggs! Who knew we would need one of those!
Another Barn owl fledgling has come to us. He was put in with Munchkin since they are around the same age. Munchkin has gone into big brother/sister mode, and is protecting the new guy while he eats.
Remember yesterday’s post? The little dove that flew off yesterday after it’s wing healed; well guess who showed up for a snack? Yep, she’s flying great and decided to stop for a quick bite to eat. Came at exactly feeding time.
A couple of weeks ago a dove came to Vida with a broken wing. Today, when we went to change her food and water she decided it was time to go. She landed on the roof and looked back; Thanks human”. Kim was able to snap the picture before she flew off. Good luck little dove!
Hector is moving up in the world. He’s graduated from his rehab cage to the flight cage to practice his fly….he’s not very graceful at the moment, but I’m sure he’ll have it in no time!
