Mockingbird fledgling.

even the littlest need help sometimes. This little mockingbird is just about fledgling, but he fell from his nest and the cats were very interested in him. A very nice lady scooped him up and contacted us. He should be ready to go back to his tree in a day or so.

Young birds are starting to fledge, before scooping them up try to determine a couple of things.
1. is it in immediate danger or injured?
if it’s in danger can you move it to a bush or shrub?
2. is it a baby or fledgling? (Not so much baby fluffs is a fledgling)
3. are the parents nearby trying to teach it to fly and feeding it?

* It’s spring time and baby season is upon us. Please if you find birds/wildlife that need assistance please reach out to us here at AzVida, Arizona Game and Fish or animal control. Please do not attempt to raise them yourself. Most require special diets and veterinary care. AzVida will ensure they receive the care they need.

Young Barn owl-Munchkin

Munchkin was brought to Vida after being found in the road. He may have been “winged” by a car, just a bit dazed and confused. He’s doing amazing, he tries to attack his rehabber during feeding. Should be ready to go soon.

Jack – Barn owl release

Catching up on some of posts we will have to backdate some things.

May 1, 2020

Some of the team took Jack to a good area for release. Jack took his time getting comfortable enough to leave (over an hour)….he waited until it was completely dark, so no video sorry. He headed to the trees in Barn owl fashion, without looking back.  Happy trails and open skies Jack!
